6 Things to Know Before Joining the Home Care Industry

As we make our way through 2021, aspiring business owners are turning to the Home Care industry for franchising opportunities now more than ever. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, America’s aging population, and seniors’ desire to stay at home, the demand for Home Care services has never been greater. As a Home Helpers® Home Care franchise owner, you’ll give aging seniors the chance to stay at home and maintain their sense of normalcy and dignity. Needless to say, owning a franchise in the Home Care industry will make a positive change in your community and be a rewarding business decision in more ways than one!

Before becoming a part of the Home Helpers family, it’s important to do your due diligence.

Understanding the Home Care Industry

1. There’s never been a higher demand for Home Care.

Seniors want to stay at home.

A 2018 survey by AARP’s found that nearly 80% of adults aged 50 and over want to remain in their home for as long as possible. They’ve created a lifetime of memories in their house and want to stay close to friends and family.

Staying home can be a great alternative to living in a nursing facility.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected nearly everyone in America; however, seniors in nursing homes and assisted living facilities have been hit especially hard. Seniors who live at home can significantly limit their exposure by not allowing anyone other than their Caregiver (all of whom follow Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines) inside.

2. The Home Care industry is booming.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the Home Care industry is expected to grow by 54% over the next five years. This means roughly 738,000 jobs will be added to the sector to account for growing demand. When compared to all industries’ average growth rate projection of 7%, it’s clear that the Home Care industry isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

3. You don’t need medical or Home Care experience.

While Home Care or eldercare experience is beneficial, it’s not required. We look for aspiring business owners with the goal of owning a successful business, are driven to achieve their goals, and have a desire to help others in their local community. Everything a new Home Helpers franchise owner needs to know will be covered in our business model and extensive Training Program.

4. Home Helpers provides an extensive Training Program.

When you own a Home Helpers franchise, you are in business for yourself; not by yourself. Our world-class support has been helping franchise owners achieve their goals of business ownership for over 23 years. From Home Helpers University to regular meetings (most of which are currently being held online), we work closely with you to develop a plan for success and offer an experienced perspective on your business and insights into your market.

5. Expect to get a lot of advice from existing franchise owners.

In addition to our organized list of extensive training material, experienced Home Helpers franchise owners are always eager to lend a helping hand. When one franchise succeeds, we all do — that’s why you’ll also have the opportunity to join owner Performance Groups. Home Helpers Performance Groups allow operators in similar markets to exchange ideas and best practices to achieve mutual success.

6. You’re entering a rewarding field.

As a business owner, every one of our Home Care franchise owners’ goals are to run a successful and profitable business. But the Home Care industry is so much more than that. For many of our franchisees and Caregivers, Home Care isn’t just a job, it’s a calling.

“Nobody knows exactly what Home Care involves until you need it. I decided I wanted to make a difference, not just collect a paycheck,” said Charlie Craig, a Home Helpers franchise owner.

Regardless of your role at Home Helpers, you’ll be surrounded by people who love what they do and working with others.

As an essential business, Home Helpers® Home Care is proud to be helping our seniors stay healthy and safe during these uncertain times. If you’re someone who’s looking to make a positive difference in the lives of senior citizens, become a part of our successful franchise!
