Home Helpers®: A Recession-Resistant Business

With living rooms becoming classrooms and dining rooms become home offices, we’re living through a time like no other. And while it may seem like so much is out of your control right now, that may not be the case. If you’ve been thinking of changing your career, now is the time to take control of your financial future.

Why Home Care is Recession-Resistant

During these tough economic times, many businesses have had to cut back on expenses or revisit their business model. But if there’s one industry that has persisted, it’s home care. As an essential business during this health crisis, we’re working every day to provide our clients with everything from live-in care to medical assistance.

Home Care Has Been Recognized as Health Care

According to the Department of Labor’s recently released FAQs on the Family First Coronavirus Response Act, home care services are health care.

Earlier this year, under the direction of Shelly Sun, CEO of BrightStar and their leadership team, the HCAOA Board of Directors and HCAOA members have been advocating for home care to become part of the health care worker exemption definition for sick leave and family medical leave mandates under FFCRA. As of March 2020, with the inclusion of home care in the exemption, those efforts have paid off!

“This success...proves that we are better together. With nearly 25,000 messages sent to members of Congress, plus hundreds of letters sent to the Department of Labor, our message that home care plays a critical role in the health care continuum was heard loud and clear,” said HCAOA President Emma Dickison.

Moving forward, any of the benefits of legislation pertaining to the health care industry now include home care companies like Home Helpers Home Care.

A History of Surviving Tough Times

  • In 2008 our system revenues were 27.8% over 2007.
  • In 2009 our system revenues were 18.8% over 2008.
  • In 2010 our system revenues were 15.5% over 2009.

We also awarded a franchise every 6.5 days in 2008, as people did not want their financial futures in the hands of the companies that had either terminated their employment or laid them off.

As an essential business, Home Helpers Home Care is proud to be helping our seniors stay healthy and safe during these uncertain times. Interested in becoming a part of our successful franchise? Reach out to our team today at (844) 899-8801.
